The 2018 Season Is Just One Week Away!


Our new season starts soon, and we have a few irons in the fire. We are happy to announce improvements to facilities and programming. Some improvements are already in effect, other are in the works. Here is what to watch for:


Improved View Surrounding the Dragoon Breastworks
We have pruned back some of the trees to the north, northeast of the Dragoon Breastworks.to get the landscape closer to its 1777 appearance.

Partially Recreated Breastworks
We are working to build out the corner of the Dragoon Breastworks to give visitors a better sense of its location.

A Replica Cannon
We are in the process of acquiring a suitable cannon and plan to position near to its 1777 location!

New display in the Information Building
An early 20th century view of the battlefield has been collected from a series of panorama postcards and is on display.

Improved Information Table
Our docents have been equipped with a giant map of the battle in order to better guide you.

Cooking Demonstrations
The life of a soldier wasn't all fighting. This year we plan to incorporate cooking into more of our programming.

Opening Day

The site officially opens to the public, 7 days per week, 8AM to sunset.

I Love My Park Day
Saturday, May 5, 10:00 AM: Bennington Battlefield NY RT-67 Hoosick, NY
Join other volunteers to beautify the site. Volunteers may plant flowers (hand tools provided) or help rake up the hillside in front of the redoubt. Volunteers may bring a lunch to picnic afterward.

Cookout

Join us for an evening of hot dogs & "Hessians." We will provide the packaged food, you grill it in our picnic area! After eating, stick around for a tour of Hessian Hill at 7. Special thanks to Price Chopper for supporting this event. Free and open to the public. Veggie alternatives available. First come, first served! Rain date: June 1.

Hike
