Those of you who follow us on Facebook will have noticed recent program cancellations. As we work to adapt programming to the current situation, we would like to share some important information with you.
While New York State Park grounds, forests and trails are currently open, New Yorkers are encouraged to stay home during this public health crisis. Many park facilities including playgrounds, athletic courts/fields, and visitor and nature centers are closed. If you do plan on visiting, visit parks close to home, avoid crowded areas, and wear face coverings where you cannot maintain safe social distance. Learn more about COVID-19 and its impact on NY State Park operations, visit: COVID-19 UPDATE
At the battlefield we have suspended in-person interpretive programs and docent services, for the time being. However, we have already made some forays into on-line programming. If this was the year you planned to tour the site, you can still do so! A series of virtual tour videos have been uploaded to our Facebook Page. For the month of May, our discussion group will be reading the first half of Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow. Please e-mail David Pitlyk for details on how to join the on-line meeting on May 27th at 6:00 PM.
Watch your inbox for further announcements on virtual programming. We also plan to make some exciting physical improvements to the site this year for visitors to enjoy in a socially distanced and safe way. If and when normal programming resumes, we will keep you posted.
Wishing you good health,
The Bennington Battlefield Staff
