As you prepare for the storm, please remember:
- Check with neighbors who may need help, especially those with children, elders, or pets.
- Place your valuables (passports, deeds, birth certificates, etc.) in a safe, dry place or take them with you.
- Based on your ability to do so, get cash from the bank, enough to carry you for a few days. If there are power outages, ATM machines won't work.
- Stock up on groceries and bottled water. Make sure all prescriptions are filled and available.
- Place tape on your windows to control glass should a window break in the storm.
- Secure outdoors items, and move your car to high ground.
- Keep your cell phone on charge all the time. Once the power goes, its your battery life. If you have an extra battery, charge it up.
- Know where your first aid kit is, and make sure it is complete.
- Fill up your car with gas before the storm. Gas pumps work on electricity and will not work in a power outage.
- Plan for pet care.
