Also in July, a walking tour of the site will be held on the 20th at 4:00 PM. Visitors can learn how the Battle of Bennington unfolded by visiting three points of interest in the first engagement of the battle and one off-site cemetery.
If you are a movie buff, come and watch a classic movie set during the Revolutionary War as part of an open-air screening on July 27th at 9:00 PM. Light refreshments will be available. We are excited to begin showing what will be the first in a series of films at the site.
Finally, for August the Bennington Battlefield Discussion Group will be reading The Men Who Lost America: British Leadership, the American Revolution and the Fate of the Empire by Andrew Jackson O’Shaughnessy. The author will speak at the Hoosick Falls High School on the 17th of July at 2:00 PM so feel free to attend his talk ahead of our next meeting that will be held Thursday, August 18 at 7:00 PM at Brown’s Walloomsac Taproom.
The book weighs in at over 400 pages, so members are directed to read at a minimum the chapters on George III, Lord North, Lord George Germain and of course John Burgoyne.
