Bennington Battlefield September Updates
August has come and gone. We hosted more movie screenings, including The Scarlet Coat and the Devil’s Disciple. Our monthly book discussion was held at the agreeable location of Brown’s Walloomsac Taproom and we rang in General Stark’s 288th
Of course the major undertaking of the month was the annual commemoration of the battle.

HFCS PTA
Kicks off 2016-2017 Year
The Hoosick Falls Central School Parent Teacher Association (PTA), a group of involved, caring, and committed moms, dads, grandmas, grandpas, teachers, administrators, and alumni, is underway with the new school year.
PTA has been active all summer preparing for the year, and they’re helping to ease students and teachers back to school at the open houses and other activities.
Most people know August for the anniversary of the Battle of Bennington, but it is also the birth month of General John Stark.
On Sunday, August 28th at 1:00 PM visitors may gather at the Bennington Battlefield State Historic Site for a tour followed by celebratory cake in honor of the General’s 288th. The gathering will begin and end at the hilltop parking area of the site, located on Route 67 near North Hoosick, NY. Call site assistant David Pitlyk at 518-860-9094 for more information. The program is free and open to the public.

We were also fortunate to land an internationally acclaimed scholar, Andrew O'Shaughnessey, to speak at the high school on British leadership during the Revolutionary War.
